The easiest Alocasia in this catalogue, which is exactly why I keep it: starting here teaches you the rhythm of the genus without risking a sixty-euro plant. It is a hybrid made by Salvadore Mauro in 1950s Florida — the name "amazonica" you see around is a historical misunderstanding, it has nothing to do with the Amazon. In winter it may drop every leaf and start again from the rhizome: it is not dead, it is resting.
