There are two different things on the same leaf, and they are worth telling apart. The silver spots belong to every maculata and are not variegation: they are pockets of air in the epidermis that reflect the light, so they are never lost and never revert. The pink, on the other hand, is chimeral variegation — sectors of genetically different tissue, in patches or marbling — and it is exactly the opposite: unstable. Everything else follows from that. Pale tissue holds less chlorophyll, so the plant grows more slowly than the green maculata and pushing it with more feed does not help. In weak light the advantage of the green parts widens and the plant reverts: a shoot that has gone entirely green has to be removed, or in time it takes over. And a cutting is chosen by looking at the STEM, not the leaf — an all-green length of stem gives you an all-green plant, however beautiful the leaf above it was.
