Semi-hydro mineral mix 8.5 L

Inorganic substrate of pumice, zeolite and lava rock. It does not break down or compact.

Semi-hydro mineral mix 8.5 L

No organic component at all: pumice, zeolite and lava rock, 5–16 mm. It does not rot, does not compact and does not change structure over time — so water and nutrients are decided by you, and not by a substrate quietly degrading underneath.

It is the choice for semi-hydro, for self-watering pots, and for the plants you keep losing to overwatering. It also removes part of the pest problem: in an inert medium there is no decomposing organic matter, so no fungus gnats and far less risk of root disease.

The trade-off is that it holds no nutrition whatsoever. In a mineral mix, fertiliser is not a seasonal addition: it is the only source the plant has, and it goes in at every top-up.
