Moss pole mix 8.5 L
Premium sphagnum, coco husk chips and garden lime: the blend that goes inside the pole.
Filling a pole with sphagnum alone is expensive and compacts over time; filling it with potting soil rots it. This mix is made to stand vertically inside a pole for years: premium sphagnum for the moisture, coco husk chips for the structure, and a little garden lime to correct the pH.
Structure is the thing that matters. A forty-centimetre pole presses down on its own contents, and a filling that settles leaves a void at the top and a sodden block at the bottom. Here the coco keeps the gaps open and aerial roots really do go in.
It also works for pot extenders on Anthuriums, and as a top dressing when you want to raise humidity around the crown.

How to use it
Wet the mix before loading and compress it only lightly: a pole packed too tight will not let roots in. In self-watering setups prefer pure sphagnum, which holds a steadier moisture. Blended with tree fern fibre it performs better still.
