Aroid repotting set
18 cm pot, aroid mix, and coarse perlite to adjust it as you like.
Repotting a mature plant, with the choice of how much air to give it. The pre-balanced aroid mix covers most cases; the coarse perlite alongside is for species that want a more open substrate — understorey Anthuriums, Monsteras that have already been through rot — where an extra twenty per cent changes everything.
The 18 cm pot is what we repot most of the nursery into: clear, so you can see the roots without having to do it again.

How it goes together
- Wet the perlite before handling it: dry, it makes dust, and perlite dust is not something to breathe.
- Decide how much air to give. The aroid mix on its own covers Philodendron and Monstera; for understorey Anthurium, and for any plant that has already been through a rot, add 20–30% perlite.
- A finger of plain mix at the bottom, the plant in the middle, then fill at the sides without compacting: what you are building is an open structure, not a block.
- Water straight away and thoroughly, until it runs from the holes. Then wait until the top two centimetres are dry before the next time.
- The clear walls are there so you can look at the roots without digging: white and firm is fine, soft and dark is not. It is the quickest way to catch a rot before it shows on the leaves.
What else you need
- A saucer: not included, and this pot really does drain.
- A pot cover if the pot catches direct sun — clear walls let it through, and in nature roots sit in the dark. We do not sell one: keeping it out of full sun is enough.
- The fertiliser, which is not in here: the mix is fed for the first few weeks, after that the plant needs something. — HESI HousePlant Elixir 500 ml €10.95
