Anti-spiralling aroid pot
The classic clear pot: ventilated, free-draining, anti-spiral. It is the base of the climbing system.
No water reservoir: this is the ordinary growing pot, for anyone who waters when watering is needed rather than leaving it to capillary action. What stays is the three things that matter — clear walls for checking roots, eight rows of side slits for air, and the anti-spiral structure.
The anti-spiral is not a catalogue detail: in a smooth pot the roots reach the wall and start going round it, wrapping over themselves until the plant ends up bound by its own root system. The internal structure forces them down instead, and anyone repotting a plant grown in one of these finds straight roots rather than a ball of wool.
But the real reason this pot exists is that it is the BASE of a system. Moss poles, anchors, ventilated and sealed pot covers and self-watering components all fit onto it: it is built to grow with the plant rather than be replaced when it matures. The one thing it does not get on with is a decorative cachepot with closed drainage, which cancels everything it is made for.
One consequence of the transparency nobody mentions: clear walls let light through onto the roots, which in nature sit in the dark. That is what pot covers are for — and if you do not use one, at least put the pot somewhere it does not catch direct sun.
The base is narrower than the mouth — a Ø 14 measures 10.5 cm at the bottom — so it slides out without breaking the root ball. And if you are planning a pole with an anchor, choose the pot on day one: adding it later means repotting.

How to use it
The everyday pot. Ø 10 for rooted cuttings, Ø 14–18 for a plant in growth, Ø 28 for a mature specimen on a pole. If you are planning a pole with an anchor, choose the pot now rather than later: you need four to eight centimetres more in diameter, and adding them further on means repotting.
